15 Dec, Friday - Universal Studio - Photo session, Rides and Shows
Universal Studio - Part 2
After the studio tour which was roughly one hour, we were herded off to take the Terminator 2: 3D ride. Why herded? Our tourguide was practically walking so fast that we had to catch up with him. I guess getting a tour package is good, the guides are so experienced that they want us to sit all the rides and watch all the shows. We had to move faster if we wanted to do everything.
Anyway, the 3D effects were really good and it was made more interesting with some story acting and also by incorporating bits from the movie. I can still remember the crew who started introducing this show, she really acted very well, so mechanical. It made everyone felt so into the story. Storyline goes like this: We were first played a video talking about skynet accomplishments, how the technology will benefit everyone. Imagine tucking your children in bed while you are overseas, with the help of a robot of course! Then we went into this theatre whereby a lady and a son who "hijack" the system, telling us not to believe in skynet. Haha.. To cut the long story short, some fighting was involved between "arnold" and the cybot.
The effects was good as it incorporated digital effects and people acting. A motorbike also came up the stage with "arnold" flying into the screen and the screen showing the real arnold going off. Everything was timed perfectly well.
After that, we went to take the Shrek 4D ride. the extra D is for the dimension of feel as we actually had water spraying on us. Pretty disgusting - because it showed the donkey or shrek sneezing. I felt so gross out even though I knew that it was just water.
After the Shrek 4D ride, we were given an hour lunch break. becky and I made use of this time to go around taking photographs.

I was on a weighing machine that gave me 0kg.. So cool right.. Haha..
After the lunch break, we went to catch Water World (Above pictures), the story plot was interesting, and there was action, water stunts, fire, explosions... really fascinating! And I remembered watching this show before. After watching Water World, it was time for more rides! we went to take Revenge of the Mummy first. At first, I was so freaked out. I hate rollercoaster rides that plunge down. Yah.. I am not a lover of sudden fall in height. Anyway, I felt scared on the first ride but I found out that there were not plunges just sudden twists and turns. So we took another ride, it was so exhilarating. And I didn't feel scared at all. I guess I feared so much as I hated the anticipation part of going down a coaster.
hehe... then it was on to the Jurassic Park ride... The dinosaurs look really realistic but I still found the plunge scary. Becky loves taking roller coaster rides.. She is really a fan of thrill. I just have a weak heart for that.
After that, we headed off to watch Backdraft which demonstrates how they create all those big fire scenes... pretty interesting... After this show, we were given free time till 4.30pm to explore the grounds by ourselves.
Spidey looks so cute right! haha.. Then we went to watch the special effects show, as its name suggests, this show demonstrated how special effects were created. It was really fascinating as we learnt how special visual and sound effects in movies were actually created...
After that we went to take the Back to the Future ride which was actually a simulation ride, didn't find it as exciting as before. When I was young, I found that ride super exciting. But now, it wasn't really that cool. A picture with Jaws!
After that, it was more photo-taking time and we also popped into several souvenir shops. The weather was good, the rides and shows were fantastic and best of all, it wasn't crowded so there wasn't any long queues for rides or anything...
Anyway, I feel that going to the Universal Studios every 15 years is more than enough. I had been to this place 10 years ago and I feel that the rides are similar. Though there were some shows such as Shrek 4D that wasn't there when I was young. Couldn't remember some of the rides as I was young but when I went through the tour, I could remember that I ever seen those stuff. And furthermore, with all the photos I have taken, I doubt I will visit this place soon. Haha.. But it has been good, I felt pretty happy after that. Needed this burst of happiness as leaving Victoria was pretty sad and depressing.
