04 Nov, Sat - Goldstream Salmon Run

We went to collect the car in the morning. National car rental really has super good service. We met at school and the service guy drove us all the way down to the place to collect the car(Near to Mayfair Shopping Centre). It was a gloomy day as it was raining. Hence, it wasn't a really good day to actually travel anywhere. The first picture was taken at the rental place. So cute right! Vomitting pumpkin.

We drove down on the highway to Goldstream and went to the nature house first. Took some pictures of bones and read some stuff on the animal that are there. Apparently, the salmons that are "running" in the river appears to be fewer. The drop in salmons was probably due to global warming and all the pollution.

It was really hard for me to get pictures of the salmons. I had to take videos to capture them moving up the river. And we actually went at the wrong time. Another group of friends went to see it later in the week and they said that there were so much more salmons that the river was filled with them. So disappointing. And we thought that we were late because the salmons that were moving up had no strength and looked as if they were going to die.

Then after watching the salmon run, we decided to take the car for a spin. Shouldn't waste the usage of the car. So we decided to go to Royal Roads University. This was the place where X-Men academy was filmed. Only the outside. Haha.. We didn't go in but just took pictures from inside of the car. It was raining.. arrgh..

Then we decided to go to Ladysmith at Duncan as I thought that there were oysters there. Apparently, there wasn't! I can't really remember the reason. I think the mart was not opened. Which is really strange because I thought we could pick them from the river bed. (Heard it from someone). Anyway, poor Jing Ting had to keep awake and drive us while the rest of us took a short nap. And furthermore, it was a wasted trip. But we got our fastfood carving. So it wasn't that bad! Shared a meal with Jo. We just love fries! And the burger was nice!

After that, we brought the car back to National. And took the bus to downtown and catch some night view of inner harbour.

Found this day pretty cool. Seeing how salmons swim up the river to breed their offspring. The only thing that I wasn't happy was that the rain was spoiling the day. But nonetheless, interesting day!
