20 Oct, Friday - Movie
Took a picture while I was sitting at the back of the bus. This is how 1 of the buses look like here. There are many variety of buses. The buses are spacious and can actually very friendly for the elderly on wheelchairs, mums with strollers. On cerrtain buses, we do not press the bell to request to stop. Rather we pull a long wire at the side of the window to request to stop.
2nd picture: Sandy and I in japanese class.
3rd and 4th picture: The japanese lesson classroom. Super big and nice. I like spacious places! Notice that they are still using chalkboard here. I was super excited over it when I came here. Lol.. Ever since secondary 3, I have not see a chalkboard for so long.
4th and 5th picture: After lesson, Rebecca and I went to Chinatown to do grocery shopping. And we decided to hit the stores as we didn't want to go back home early. Ended up in a shoe shop and we were busy trying on shoes. There were so many nice shoes! I wanted to get 2 pairs as the 2nd pair was 50% off if I got the first pair of shoes. Anyway, Becky didn't have her size and we travelled down to Mayfair. And then we were spoiled for choices. In fact, Becky and I wanted to get 3 pairs of shoes. And our choices will all the same. In the end, I only got 1 pair, it is the black version of the 5th picture. Though I quite like the shoes but I felt pretty broke if I got all 3 pairs. I need to get more office shoes when I get back to Singapore. After spending so much time trying on shoes and thinking what to buy, we had to go straight to the movie cinema. Decided to catch a movie here to check out the cinema. B mentioned that the cinema, Silvercity, in Tilicum Mall is pretty nice. They had a buildng dedicated for the cinema.
Becky and I got the tickets to watch The Departed first before meeting Jingting up. We realised that there will no seat numbers to it. It was free seating. I am not sure if it is because the show had be on for so long, that not many people will be watching the show, so there was no need to give us seat numbers.
Walked around the cinema. There were quite a few stores selling food and drinks unlike Singapore's cinema whereby there is only 1 food operator and selling at exhorbitant prices. Anyway, we met up with jt and becky and I bought new york large fries to bring in to eat. This movie trip was expensive! $9.95 to watch a movie! $5+ to get fries. We can watch 1 and a half movie in Singapore on Sunday.
7th picture: Get your tickets from a self-serve machine. We ordered our tickets from the ticket seller instead.
8th picture: Where all the theatres are.
The last picture is in the cinema. Couldn't capture it well as it was quite dark. I do like the cinemas here as the seats are on a very steep slope. This means that we can see the screen super clearly. No one to block me. Basically, a full view of the screen. The only complaint that I had was that the seats was not reclining. It was quite straight and stiff.
Anyway, the experience in watching a show here was good but expensive. Though, I think The Departed (the english version) is not as good as Infernal Affairs(chinese version). There were so many f words in the movie. Very jarring to the ears. Every 2 sentence, there is a f word. So irritating. I found Dicaprio's acting good and Matt's acting mediocre. In fact, the chinese version, Andy Lau and Tony Leung's acting were so much better.
