09 Nov, Thurs - Off to Vancouver for Rockies Trip

We left for Vancouver in the late afternoon. Apparently, the bus was packed and JT and cheryl missed 2 buses, and I missed 1 of it while Jo & Becky managed to squeeze up on the bus I missed. We nearly missed the ferry as the bus only arrive like 5 mins before the ferry leaves. So it was a close shave for us to get the ferry.

Had to stay for the night in Vancouver as the meeting time was quite early. We wanted to tour in Vancouver but there wasn't much to see as it was really late. And there was also another reason. The place we stayed was really bad. I guess for the price of $10, we can't really complain. It was like a slum! And there were people who stayed for more than a month. I guess they needed cheap accommodation.

Basically, it was really a different environment. The place was run down, the bed was so creaky. It was also the first time I slept on a mattress which I could feel every spring poking into my body. Never expected to stay in this type of place. And by the way this place is American Backpackers Hostel. Do not go there if you are the kind that demands for a decent accommodation.


And we were all separated. Ellince and I slept in a room, while Becky and Cheryl slept in a room that had the word "sex room" outside the door (probably a joke), and Jt and Jo slept in the basement where you had to actually exit out of the building. I didn't feel scare as I know that the people at the place though looks ruggard, they don't really seem like the bad kind of people.

We did not bath nor use the toilet because it seemed quite digusting. Haha.. The unisex toilet had a paper stating that people shouldn't flush the toilet often to save water. So that toilet was actually stinky. Overall, it was an interesting experience.
