30 Aug - Wednesday - Vancouver - Part 2

Anyway, we took a long long ride to Richmond Centre. Have to say this again.. Travelling long distances is really wasting time but we have no money to take taxi. Must scimp and save, expenses here are so much more expensive due to the exchange conversion rate. Finally arrived in Richmond, then we had lunch in a normal shopping mall. I had sushi. Man.. It is really different, made my chinese people. Sweet potato in the filling. haah.. Luckily there were salmon and fri prawns sushi. Anyway, it is edible, but definitely not as nice as what I have eaten in Singapore.

BUT! We regretted having lunch so early. We had to take a bus up as we missed the wrong Richmond spot. So when we went into the YaoHao shopping mall, we were like.. Arrgh!! Why we had lunch at the other mall??? YaoHao mall is a chee-na mall. Chinese food, and definitely authetic ones!!! But we were both so full so we decided to walk around the mall. Quite disappointing as there wasn't anything much to see. Just like People Park without the hustle and bustle. Instead of shopping for clothes or nice stuff, we shoped for groceries... YEah.. Fall off your chair. Yes.. So what did we buy? Salted eggs, century eggs, 2 soup packet(chinese herbs)- Ginseng chicken soup. Probably will cook it soon, I hope. Bought black fungus to cook steam chicken (question is: Does the landlord has a steamer?). Bought fun xi, vermicillini. Yah.. SHopping for food. Typical Singaporeans, no food will die.

Then we bought half a roast duck for $8 which lasted us for 3 meals and it was really good!!!! I am going to miss the tasty crispy skin and meat. Was quite disappointed with Richmond as we didn't see anything interesting. Then when we got back to Victoria, we realied that the happening areas were actually behind YaoHan. Like what I said 3 days and 2 nights were not enough. We probably will have to go back again. hehe.. 22 degrees on that day. And at 6.02, we were waiting for the bus(waited for a long time) and we still need to change to another bus. Actually, we couldn't find the first darn bus stop as they change the bus stop to elsewhere. Spent like 45 min to find that bus stop. We had to missed the 7pm ferry ride as the bus will only arrived at the 2nd bus stop at 7.02 so we had to take the 8pm one.

Then the most stupid thing happened. We took the 2nd bus and arrived at the place at 7.20pm. We didn't see the waiting area at berth 5 as it was at the end of the long corridor tucked in the corner. So we waited at the waiting area for berth 3 and 4. I thought we had so much time, so we shared some famous amoys cookies. I also relied on Rebecca to inform me about the time to get into the boat. Rebecca was like saying that there were people on the ferry, then I was like," You sure." It didn't cross our minds that we had to board the ferry 15 mins earlier. I guess we have taken the buses for so many times that we just wanted to board the ferry on a just on time basis. So when we walk to the end of the corridor, we saw the waiting area tuck away in the corner and there was no one at all!!! We knocked on the door and the lady at the other side used the microphone system and said," You have missed the ferry, you have to take the 9pm one."

It felt so bad. We must have offended the waiting god. Wednesday had been a day of waiting. Started waiting from 5(at the darn first bus stop which shifted elsewhere) and now we had to wait for 1 hour more. The worst part was that we might not be able to catch the last bus home. This is because we had to change bus and both buses will come and leave at 11.41pm. Ferry ride is 1 hour and 35 min. So we reached Victoria at 10.35pm but we had to wait for a bus from the ferry terminal which leaves at 11.05pm (more waiting in the cold, night is really cold!). Both of us were hoping that the bus uncle could be less punctual and arrived faster, so we have a couple of minutes to get the second bus. Luckily, he did arrive a couple of minutes faster. Then we had to chiong and cross the traffic light to get to another bus stop (this time we didn't make the stupid mistake of waiting at the wrong bus stop- blog 27, 28 aug). It was really lucky, as the bus driver was waitin at the terminal to leave at the exact time of 11.41pm.

Got back home at 12+. It has been a really fufiling trip though the night was wasted with lots of travelling.
