28 Aug - Part 2

Anyway, we decided to go to the Habour Centre. Actually we really were just following what the travel brochures recommends. It was a hard time to find the place as we still weren't good in reading the maps. Kept walking one end before realising that we were walking in the wrong direction.

$7 for a day admission to Habour Observation Centre was really worth. That is the benefit while we are still a student. Seriously, having a international student card is good. Flashed it, and you can pay at the student price instead of the adult price. So we decided to catch the view in the evening and to walk around and come back in the night. The view was good. We got a great view on the whole of Vancouver(Downtown). Could see North Vancouver too and Grouse Mountain is there.

We decided to take the sky train at Water Front station. And you know what happened! I met Adeline, my Singapore secondary friend. She migrated to Canada but I had no idea that it was Vancouver. The most amusing thing was that I was actually noticing Adeline's friend as he was wearing a white shirt with a cream tie, it didn't seem matching to me. And Rebecca was looking at Adeline as she was staring at me. However, Adeline didn't called me and so we each walked away. Rebecca and I wanted to take a photo at Water Front Station, and Adeline came up to confirm that it was me. We were both shocked. Adeline said that she couldn't believe I was there as I should be in Singapore. I was shocked as we always meet each other(always a coincidence)in Singapore when Adeline is on a holiday in Singapore.

After a short chat, we headed down to Metropolis for a short shopping trip. The bus ride was super long, we were supposed to take the sky train but it broke down so we had to take the bus and the trip was like 45 min. Metropolis is actually a very big shopping mall, probably 3 times of Suntec land area. It has 3 big departments, so they took up lots of space. I didn't buy anything as the sale was not so fantastic. I am really looking up for good bargains. The taxes are super high. 6% on GST and another 7% on provicial tax. A total of 13% of tax on clothes. The clothes here are really nice but expensive due to the conversion rate. Canadian dollars are rising. Arrgh.. Please just drop!!!

Anyway, we only had 1 hour to shop before going back on a 45 min bus ride to rush back to the observation tower to catch the night view. We stayed till the place closed which was at 10.30pm. The night view was so beautiful. So many lights. After that we walked back to our hostel. It was quite close(actually not really), it was a few blocks away. Passed by those shops selling sexy clothing. 25 cents for a peep show. We didn't go in. lol.. Had a good laugh and headed back to hostel to have a good sleep. Had to wake up early to go touring.
