Nov 24, Friday - Reverse Culture Shock Talk, At Prof's Party

We had a reverse culture shock talk today. Basically the talk was to help us get prepared and to cope better when we go back home. A wrapping up session of our exchange here.

I will just have around one more week of class and a couple of exams and the whole exchange will be over. I really don't want my exchange to end. I do like this place and the fun I enjoyed. The people I met from all over the world. Time really passes so fast! I can't believe it.

After attending the talk, I felt that I would not be able to go back to Singapore to cope with the hectic lifestyle. I will have to graduate in 6 months time and I would have to find a job by then and be a full fledge worker, no longer a student. Can I cope?

After the talk, Lince, Jo, jt and I went to the computer lab to do our entrepreneur project. Later in the afternoon, we used mapquest to find the place our professor was staying. Our Entrepreneur class's professor, Ana Maria, organised a party for her students.

Jt was lucky that she joined us as Steve called later to inform her that he could not fetch her to the party as his girlfriend needed the car. We took the bus there, and walked to our Prof's place. The place, that she is living in, is situated in the rich people area. It is pretty inaccessible to get there without a vehicle.

It was pretty crazy. There were steep slopes and there was this long portion that was PITCH dark. It was quite scary. Some street lamps had sensors and when they lighted up suddenly, jo would scream. hahah.. It was quite freaky. Thanks goodness we were together. Bravery comes in numbers.

Anyway, her house is GORGEOUS. Ana Maria has such a nice and big house and there are only 3 people staying inside. She and her husband did up the lighting decorations outside the house.Apparently, it also has a lovely view of the sea, and they have this telescope which can see orcas, whales & seals! The house is obviously very expensive and it was also the first time that I have stepped into such a big house.

We had a delicious dinner. Delicious bbq beef patties. Mexican style "beans soup". And a very sweet carrot cake. It's so interesting that a professor will invite students to his or her house, even though she wasn't that close to us. You will probably never get that in Singapore.
