17 Dec, Sunday - Fisherman's Wharf, Ferry Cruise, Delicious seafood
San Fransciso - Part 3
After visiting Golden Gate Bridge, we were brought to Fisherman's Wharf. We took some photos along the Pier 39 shopping/restaurant mall and waited to board our boat cruise.
It's a very vibrant place with all the bright colours of yellow, blue, red, green. I felt very happy over there. There's this shop that was selling chocolate and I quite like the decorations, makes one feel chocolatey. And the decoration for a cafe counter was so cute - the 3rd picture below. You had to order your meal through this van stuck in the wall. Even the police car is also cute.
The cruise was an hour long and we were treated to a fantastic coastal view of the city, not to mention a closeup view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the many sea lions basking under the sun.

This place is the famous Alcatraz Island, whereby the prisoners will put on this island. It is practically hard to get out as the security is super tight. And even for 1 to get out, it is not possible to stay alive within the waters. How are you going to swim to the main island? Just too crazy. The tour guide said that 1 prisoner managed to escape but not sure if he did make it. Haha.. If you get out of jail, you definitely would not tell people that you escape. So we will never know if he did survive.
After the cruise, becky and I headed off looking for the famous clam chowder and crab. Eating at fisherman's wharf was actually one of our main aim of the trip. This was because I came to San Fransciso 10 years ago and I could still remember the delicious crab I had. I was hoping to find back the same taste. The place looks more colourful and the seals are still there.
Oh.. Becky had to donate $1 to a basker. Man.. These people are really thick skinned, if you take a picture of them, they might put up a hand sign demanding you to put something into their tin can. The basker who did this action was the guy in the 5th picture. I guess we were afraid something might happen if we just walk up.
And look at the spread we had- clam chowder in sourdough bread, fish n chips, shrimps and crab! The place was so crowded we had to stand and eat though, no complaints though as the food was good! I love the clam chowder and the shrimps especially. So nice! The fish was deeped in beer batter too. But I was disappointed with the crab. It just wasn't the same. I remembered digging into fleshy and juicy crabs the last I came here. Haha.. Maybe it was a high expense crab, the crab we bought was on a low budget. That probably explains why..
