2 - 4 Sep - Sat to Mon - Adventure Camp
Arrive the meeting area super early. The bus comes at a different timing on saturday and sunday. We had to take the first bus of the day to go to school and be on time at 7.45am. After that, we had to take a long ride to Strathcona Park Lodge. It is in the centre part of Vancouver Island, so it takes 4 hours to get there. But we stopped at an observation point to take pictures.
After that, we stopped at Nanaimo which is the 2nd biggest city of Vancouver Island after Victoria. We went to Nanaimo Walmart to get food, I bought a drink and chocolate rice krispies. We made sandwiches on the previous night, so we ate them on the way.
When we arrived there, we went to our rooms and had lunch in the lodge and had sandwiches again. Then we changed clothes and met everyone and played a game (jumping up and down on pp's back). We were then divided into our groups to do our various activities and our group was canoeing. We canoe to a small island (really small) and we went swimming. Yes.. The water was super cold but it was really fun. The trick to not get super cold, is to just jump into the water. It is really a shiok experience, at least I did experience it. Doubt I will be doing swimming again as the weather is turning colder. However, I have to say that I prefer kayahing over canoeing. Kayahing works both arms, the best way to get rid of flabby arms. Canoeing (is like dragon boating) only works on the dominant hand, though you can actually practise on both sides with a different hand.
After that, we had a bath very cold water. We stayed in College building, but the building's heater was spoilt so we only had cold water. Anyway, I bath in really cold water for the 2 days there as I was too lazy to go to another cabin and bath in warm water. We had a delicious dinner that night, roast beef, noodle, salad. I love mustard honey sauce. It is really good. The dessert was good, chocolate brownie. Shared with Jinting as we did not want to grow fatter.

2nd day in camp. I went hiking and it was really very very tiring. Climbed a steep hill and I was so scared that I might trip and fall or slip and fall. The sun was also bad. I really hate the sun here, the rays are really strong. At least in Singapore, we have clouds to shield us on good days. Here, the sky is always clear, no clouds in sight and the sun just beats down. Bought a Vancouver cap in Vancouver as I couldn't stand the sun when I went to tour there. However, I forgotten to bring the cap so I had to use my jacket to cover my head.
Climbed to a lookout point and the view was really beautiful. After resting at the lookout point, it was time to head down on another route. I thought that I won't sweat and boy was I wrong. Hiking really makes you sweat and stink. Used lots of strength to climb up as the hill was steep.
Went back and chatted with my china friend, tian yan. Then we had lunch and I followed Rebecca to her room. She is the only 1 from Singapore who stayed in a different building and get to use hot water to bath! haha.. Rebecca left me in the room as her meeting time was earlier. I felt asleep and would have continue to sleep if her room mate didn't come. Luckily, her room mate came in, if not, my group will be finding me. Did ropes activity. It was really fun, had to pass through a series of ropes obstacles, like balancing on a rope walk to the other side. I think I conquered my fear of walking in the mid air. The last time I did this was in Secondary 3, OBS, but I was super scared. This time, I wasn't as I believe there system was safe.
Did the flying fox, or zipline. A bit wasted that it was not captured on the camera but never mind. The funny part was that I felt a bit scared and I was probably the only one that screamed.. It wasn't because I was scared but I don't like the feeling of dropping down suddenly, so I had to let the steam off by screaming. But I like it, it was really fun.
Then we went back to bath and had dinner. Roast turkey, should have taken more. The dessert was bad, super sweet. I hate super sweet stuff. After the dinner, we had to prepare for cultural show held in a big room called The Barn. It was really fun to see people introduce their culture through dances, games, presentations. We did a mini presentation on how Singapore is like, Singlish, food, dustbins everywhere.
Took a picture with Mayumi, my japanese friend and also the thai people. Their costume were so elaborated. After that we had a mini party or dancing session at The Barn. However, we got so bored as the music wasn't fun at all. So we left to watch for stars but I left early as I felt that there won't be any falling or shooting stars. Missed out on the partying as I heard that the music was much better. So disappointing. But never mind.
The next morning we had breakfast and free time to ourselves. Just laze and chatted with friends. Took the bus back to Nanaimo to have an hour of lunch break. The girls went shopping again. Watched 2 shows on the way back to school.
