24th Dec, Sunday - Part 2, Toronto

After lunch, we left Niagara and made our way to Toronto. I felt so weird, all of the sudden, I am thrust back to a cosmopolitan life. There were so many people, tall huge commercial buildings. The 3rd picture actually shows a Speaker's Corner. We were laughing over it, because it is also empty like the Singapore one. Not a single soul there.
We first visited the old and new City Hall, which was side by side. This is the new city hall. The 2 buildings that seem to form a circle. People were ice skating there. Sigh.. That's the sad part being with a tour, can't get to enjoy the things you want to try.
This is the old City Hall.
Our guide told us not to go to the subway as it is big and we will get lost easily. It sounded more like a challenge to us, can't be bothered to listen to him and we went to explore it... HAHA... Is is so huge! The subway is connected underground like spore citylink, just that it's a much much bigger version of it. It pretty complicated, your probably have to walk a couple of times to familiarise yourself witht the area. You can like walk 10 blocks north or 10 blocks east underground...
All the buildings and shopping malls are connected underground... so cool right? Apparently it was built so that during the hot summer and cold winter, pple do not have to walk in the sun or in the cold.
I took the picture below as I was wondering what was all the mini post doing around. Then I found the answer, it's actually to lock the bicycle. What a friendly town, promoting cycling..
After which, we visited Ontario Parliament Building. University of Toronto beside it too. But we didn't get to explore the University much further.Next, we went up CN Tower to capture the entire city landscape. CN Tower is apparently the world's tallest tower, even taller than Taipei 101. They had a poster showing how all the towers measured. And we said that all the towers are cheater bugs, they just add a huge long pole on top the structure to compete in height. Lol.. The 3rd picture below is supposed to "clean" us up. It felt so funny, there was spurts of air blowing away the dust on your clothes.
Anyway the view was fantastic cos we happen to catch sunset at the same time. The tower also has this section where we could stand on the glass floor and look directly beneath. Just pray that the glass floor won't crack when you are standing or sitting on it. Still, it was an interesting experience.
After which, we were brought to Chinatown for dinner. There were so many stores, Toronto probably has the largest Chinatown as there are so many chinese immigrants. I had roast duck rice, and the roast duck was really fatty. hahah.. But it was expensive, CDN$5.50 for a plate of rice. We really missed the cheap and delicious food in Singapore. Anyway, thanks garry for the treat.
